Goals of our project

  1. Privateer Gaming (PTG) wants to create a well respected after schools club program that has a customer base in all significant areas within the United Kingdom.

  2. PTG wants to create A place for anyone who has an interest in gaming regardless of their financial or personal backgrounds. A club that can bring new opportunities to those who would not otherwise be able to access them.

  3. PTG wants to create A space that encourages the uptake of Esports as a career path whether it is a playing career or non-playing career. This will act as the basis upon which PTG can launch gaming events in the UK and create a talent pipeline for our teams.

our vision for the uk ecosystem explained

The Young Privateers program will be a gateway into the world of Esports to spark a passion in gaming that can last into adulthood. We will provide opportunities to learn about Esports careers other than the 1% of those in Esports who can sustain a playing career.

The second step of our ecosystem will be hosting PTG LAN tournaments which will give players of all abilities a goal and focal point for the year to focus towards. It will also give more opportunities for broadcast and event talent in the UK to gain more experience and build up their show reels and CVs. Lastly, we want the Young Privateers and our own LAN tournaments to create UK talent we can sign to our own competitive teams.

how does the program work?

A typical session of our Esports club will have:

  • 10-15 students.

  • Each student would pay £4-6 to access the devices and pay for the coaching service. Price determined by session length. London prices may be higher.

  • Sessions can be scaled to run for 30-60 minutes.

  • A curriculum led learning goal for each session.

  • The curriculum will be delivered in 8 week blocks.

  • A positive and safe environment for young people to develop social, communication and team work skills. As well as a space to explore a passion i.e Esports.

10 ways privateer gaming will benefit participants mental health

Using the fantastic work of Dr Nick Ballou who is a leading figure in Video Game research working with the University of Oxford and Imperial College London among many other academic institutions and companies such as the BBC.

We have read Dr Ballou’s work titled ‘How Do Video Games Affect Mental Health? A Narrative Review of 13 Proposed Mechanisms.’ and found that our program will provide benefits or strategies to satisfy 11 out of the proposed 13 affects of gaming.
